Singer-Popwriter?

The image on the above front cover shows an influence of what i'd like the front cover image to be. A clear image of the artist and instrument and nothing else. This is a goods metaphor for the genre at hand. The Acoustic/Singer-Songwriter genre is known for simple recording methods, no added effects and a clear relationship between singer and instrument. Over the break i've taken the desicion to focus the magazine to this type of Music, and while i've already decided to have a full body shot on my front cover, i'd like to have an instrument, preferably a guitar to express the relationship between instrument and artist that this genre expresses

The above front cover shows a more pop side to the acoustic/singer-songwriter genre, with more emphasis on the Artist rather than the instrument. However this magazine looks alot more spaced out while the first magazine looks very compressed. Personally I find the second front cover alot easier to read and I'd rather have mine look more like this. However with a different colour scheme
